Caring Circuit has built two custom pcb electroplating lines that incorporate all specifications which minimize plating thickness variation.These include varieties of through-hole electroplating solutions, such as mechanical through-hole plating of simple pcb, semiautomatic dispensing of conductive paste for double-sided PCBs, and galvanic through-hole plating of complex pcbs. For galvanic systems, Caring Circuit also offers Reverse Pulse Plating for microvias and multilayers. Technically speaking, there cannot be a better plating process.
To ensure good conductivity of the through the holes, we need to plate an average of 25 microns of copper on the hole walls. This means that we also plate 25 – 30 microns on the surface coppers. So if we start with a typical 17.5 micron copper foil it will be 40 – 42 microns after pcb plating. Once we have plated the copper onto the board we then plate a thin layer of tin. This we will use in the next step of the process when we etch off the unwanted copper foil.
